I can't get over the fact that we are further in time now from 'Father Ted' than we were from 'Fawlty Towers' when 'Father Ted' was made.

Was a great piece! Did you find out whether that was THE Arthur Matthews commenting on it?

I felt that no good could come further digging on that front, I choose to believe anyway

I both read and listened to the narrated version of the piece on John Gray. All I can tell the robot reading it is that that really isn't how you pronounce 'Fukuyama'. I was shocked I tell you.

Hope you and your family enjoyed yesterday's Coronation, Ed. Over here in the States, my wife and I found it very nourishing and recorded it for future viewing when we're feeling glum or desperate.

The Three Cheers echoing through the Royal Garden took my breath away.

God Save The King!! 👑

thank you. I'm writing a piece on how it felt like what it would be like if conservatives were in cultural control of the country. Like a Lord of Misrule in our upside down world.

Krein: If one wishes to keep the most destructive idea of left-wing Democrats at bay (as I do), the last thing to do is fund the clown chow that is today's Republican party. Instead, you would fund centrist think tanks, regional news-oriented newspapers, and right-wing Democrats.

That tweet you linked to is great, but I'm pretty sure this is the best tweet of all time:

Anyway I didn't watch all the coronation but I did specifically seek out the Zadok the Priest part. The first YouTube channel on which I found it was American news and of course they babbled inanely all through it, so I had to hunt down Commonwealth's reporting on it to hear the anthem unruined. Found it on an Aussie news channel. Here's the offending American video. Some of the comments are funny though.

Re Hannia and Wokeness. Yes he is correct- Kate Upton is prettier than Lizzo. Yes we know that-As a moden day Dororthy Parker noted You know when are ugly when women write essays telling men you are beautiful. The true horror is not that the inept get caught out. Several of Mr Chesteron's fences get kicked down. What starts with Lia Thomas ends up with the vulnerable fleeing from a society where the parents of a teenage girl with the intelligence of a nine month old is told to accept male carers or lose the support

Related to this is Simon Baron Cohen's metaphor about Autism being an extreme male ness of mind. I think that metaphor was misunderstood. It has had effects on procuring treatmentor ASD

Henderson: It had not really affected my patriotism, but to see "Patriotism," specifically displays of flags and symbols as emblems of Right wing thought, does make it harder to use and respond to those emblems.

Blocked by Henderson-But the US military relies on Dixie _ Young WASPsy farm boys used to trucks guns and hunting. Used to male discipline. Being shouted out, prodded tto run laps or clean up

Unfortunately that package comes with some other views they distrust the state deeply - Seing Silent Sam come down and being told to take covid shots didn't impress them

I am watching with horror and disgust the continual musings to raise the age to use X to 25. I am tired of the moral cowadice behind it. One of the most stupid pieces of legislation that exists in the world is the US drinking age of 21. We really must stop infantilising people

the car proposal struck me as so hateful on some visceral level. Let young people have fun before the weight of worry crushes them. If people are worried about dangerous drivers, ban dangerous drivers!

It is the same issue with natalism. You ban under 25 year olds from driving. That will delay child rearing. Young men join the army say to drive tanks and jeeps. Or get a job driving They are their own boss while in the driving seat and do something productive.. You take autonomy away from people and they are timid
