Why isn’t there a new revolt on the Right? And what Galloway's victory can teach them

There is an episode of Red Dwarf, one of my favourite shows from my early teens, where an alien appears to everyone as the perfect object of their desires. It wasn’t the first sci-fi show to ponder this idea; the very first Star Trek episode to be aired, ‘The Man Trap’, featured an extra-terrestrial who could harness a similar skill, although of a more malevolent variety – it killed its victims by sucking the salt out of their body.
