The Vibe Shift comes to Britain

The French Revolution’s Jacobin Reign of Terror was followed by the Thermidorian Reaction, which soon gave way to the counter-revolutionary White Terror. Just as the current Vibe Shift began with Elon Musk ending Twitter censorship rules, so the White Terror began with the lifting of restrictions against conservative newspapers. And what did those Right-wing journals do as soon as their free speech was restored? They called for bloody revenge.

So if 2020 was Twitter’s Reign of Terror, when progressives were at the peak of their power and intolerance – mostly attacking Girondins only slightly to the Right of them – then X in early 2025 feels like we’ve reached the White Terror stage.
