He once tweeted that “what separates the winners from the losers is they react to each new twist of fate” which I think is a genuinely insightful (about him and about the world) and inspiring phrase, I think of it all the time

Loves the Village People, musicals, was respectful of an opponent's same sex marriage, is bitchy in a funny way. Donald Trump is the first gay President.

His sense of humor is stunning! It is incompatible with modern liberal sensibilities in the Anglosphere; I suppose Trump is aware that his utterances are unconventional when compared to other politicians and presidents, so he doubles down every time, much to the amusement of his fanbase and us!

His remarks about Syria’s new leader; “young, attractive guy”, were just Trumpian in every sense; extremely hilarious and shows his proclivity to analyze people based on their physiognomy!

I think Trump likes the Gulf for many reasons; first of all the money of course, the tall and well-groomed people he meets here, but also he likes the architecture! Modern, pastiche, and generally ostentatious.

An intriguing analysis here;

Great article..thank you. Regardless of his shortcomings Trump is a breath of fresh air compared to the other so called world 'leaders'.

Especially compared to his predecessor, who never spoke to the press and when he did speak in public drooled on himself and garbled the teleprompter.

He calls it how he sees it - utterly refreshing.

For 25yrs, the West has largely been governed by duplicitous schmoozers and sound-biters who talk constant expediency.

In Britain: Blair, Brown, Cameron, May, Johnson, Sunak and now Starmer have all beguiled the nation with bullshit because they have been unified in a common cause - they have not been governing for Britain, but for globalist ends.

Trump may be a bit kooky - and, yes, stylistically he is easy to mock - but he is governing for his people……he is also Britain’s only hope for a free and prosperous future. Our current PM and government are the worst we have ever had.

Yet you can’t mock Starmer, because he has no character, he is a unique combination of reptile and robot.

After having a senile President being led around by a bunch of unelected and unaccountable loons, I’m actually a little less terrified.

Trump's great mystery to me is how he has such a massive ego in some regards and none whatsoever in others. He's completely immune to what you think about him or will bear a grudge for years.

I just laughed so hard at the 'rescinding lethargic quip'. Hilarious

Ah, wise words from someone here:

In his assessment of the neocon attitude to foreign policy, he wasn’t far off, and Trump often gets things right, perhaps because his narcissism makes him almost immune to the status-signalling and conformity that leads to groupthink

A penchant for the Filet-O-Fish is actually the hallmark of the restaurant connoisseur. This dish is chosen only by the cognoscenti, so you will have to wait while the chef prepares it - but boy is it worth the wait! Wild Alaskan pollock slathered with sauce tartare, nestling inside a warm brioche embrace. Enjoy it with a glass of Gruner Veldliner. And fewer than 400 calories!

I'm beginning to see Trump the way Douglas Adams portrayed the role of President of the Galaxy: simply an entertaining distraction from something else:

"The President in particular is very much a figurehead...His job is not to wield power, but to draw attention away from it. On those criteria, Zaphod Beeblebrox is one of the most successful Presidents the Galaxy has ever had - he has already spent two of his ten presidential years in prison for fraud " HGTG, p.28

I miss Douglas Adams and his prescient satire.

My husband, too, has the Everything's Computer version of Trump Derangement Syndrome. He's also developed a great affection for the press secretary lassie, who reads out Trump lines verbatim with a completely straight face.

It all gets very meta around here as he laughs his head off like a little boy hearing a dick/fart joke and I, in turn, laugh at him.
